If you or someone you know is facing an Above Guideline Rent Increase then we strongly suggest that you read this document: So You Just Received your first Above Guideline Rent Increase; this short document explains everything you need to know to get up to speed.

Landlords ripping off tenants by abusing AGIs
« on: October 08, 2022, 01:24:48 am »
For the last 10 years I've been involved in representing the tenants in my building in multiple AGIs.

Through repetition across 4 different landlords in the past 15 years, some very disturbing patterns have emerged.

Landlords are abusing AGIs by doing unnecessary renovations, then going after their tenants to pay for them. But they are also using them to drive up property values, defer taxes and, most importantly, to drive investor interest by artificially driving up share prices. In essence they are ripping off their tenants to please their investors.  AND... it's not just in my building, this is happening province wide.

Yes... it's real... and it's very well hidden.

Read "The 165 Ontario Story" at https://dbpages.ca [nofollow] for all the details.

The website will acquaint you with my building's history ... renovations, rent increases, etc... and our current landlord's activity.  Then it will describe the AGI Playbooks scam and show you how to fight an AGI case in tribunal and what needs to be done to actually fix the problem.
