Landlords - Akelius

This area of TorontoRentersForum.com is for tenants living in Akelius buildings to ask questions, make connections, compare notes, and organize themselves.

Akelius Canada Ltd is a large well-financed multinational corporation that owns apartments in several cities around the world. Almost since it’s inception it has courted international criticism – for more information see our Akelius information supplement.

Renters living in Akelius buildings should take note that The Akelius Tenants Network is an association of renters living in Toronto-area buildings owned by Akelius. This active tenant group has been an outspoken advocate for renters, and a strong critic of Akelius.

Landlord Akelius Spamming Tenants
« on: January 31, 2023, 11:34:55 am »
We here at the Akelius Tenants Network have learned that Akelius is now sending spam e-mails to their tenants.

The e-mails are spam because Akelius is not providing a way to unsubscribe, and also not providing contact information for the sender, which is against Canada's spam laws.

We encourage anyone who has been spammed to report their spam to the Canadian Government by either filling-out the online form here:

Canadian Government's Spam Reporting Centre [nofollow]

or by forwarding a copy of their spam, including the "e-mail header" if possible, to:

   spam@fightspam.gc.ca [nofollow]

For your reference, here's an easy to read guide to the requirements for businesses sending e-mails, according to Canada's anti-spam law:
