Title: No more heat at 16 St Joseph as boiler not being repaired
Post by: Laika on March 06, 2024, 02:02:47 pm
Akelius owned 16 St Joseph St boiler broke down March 2nd due to negligent maintenance over the last few years, and landlord is not going to fix it, claiming that parts are custom made and hard to find and that someone assessed the situation and said the boiler was done.  The new HVAC system which was supposed to be ready by the fall of 2023, still has not been activated, due to Toronto Hydro being slow on inspection.   I assume a billion dollar foreign owned corporation like Akelius should be aware of timelines for projects and obstacles that need to be faced, to not create such situations. It appears there will be no heat in the building for at least a month or two. Shocked by this.  We are living in a "modern" city in 2024.   No one is showing genuine care for the well being of the residents (aside from a wee rebate for using more hydro from space heaters). I have the letter, but unable to attach.
