This section is for renters to discuss issues regarding Maintenance (or, your Landlord Not Maintenaning your Apartment).
In addition to this forum there are some terrific information resources available on this topic:
• From the Federation of Metro Tenants' Associations, Guide to Renovations, What a Tenant Needs to Know
• From Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO), Maintenance and repairs.
• From Steps to Justice, Who is responsible for repairs and maintenance?, and also, Can the Landlord and Tenant Board help me if my landlord doesn't do repairs?
• The RentSafeTO program was created by a City of Toronto bylaw (Municipal Code Chapter 354), and it contains provisions that require landlords to maintain their buildings and to respond to renters' concerns regarding maintenance problems. Complaints regarding landlords contravening the RentSafeTO bylaw can be reported to the City of Toronto by calling 311.
