This is nothing more than a do not rent to list.

This site "https://openroom.ca/" is illegally using a tax payer funded Government website for profit.

They are profiting from the court documents that contain private information.
Profiting from government published documents is breeching the terms and conditions.

A perfect example is this uploaded document whereby the landlord was paid and the file dismissed yet it is still posted.

Use their site, look up "Orillia" to see how many have been uploaded for just Orillia.
I scrolled through then clicked on this file.
Use their site to look up "Chad Squire"...link takes you right to the file at CanII.

This order was discontinued, the rent was paid yet it is still listed and promoted as a bad tenant or bad landlord?

The website should be charged for defamation.

The REIT companies have banded together and by doing so are stronger than tenants voices.
To overcome this

ALL TENANTS IN ONTARIO SHOULD BE A SINGLE UNION.

Tenants need to rewrite the rule book.
There needs to be a STANDARD OF LIVING across the province, not a bunch of regulations that aren't enforced.
TAX THE REIT COMPANIES.
If landlords do not comply to standards they are FINED IMMEDIATELY, no courts or tribunals.
Go after the money is how you hurt a corporation.

In order for rents to be respectable then wages must also be respectable.

Presently there is no respect in business.

So if wages are regulated than so should rents.



I once had an employer that when asked for a raise said to me. Why ?
My reply was I have to travel 30 minutes each way to work for you.
That costs comes off my pay cheque.

His reply, ya so why should I pay for that ?
Thats the cost of doing business ?

I said because it costs me money to work for you.
I am not a busines that can use right-offs.

His reply, not my problem.

My reply, well than I guess you can get anyone to do the job so all the best.
If it costs me money to work for you and it comes directly out of the money you pay me then,
YA YOU ARE PAYING ME TO WORK FOR YOU JUST NOT ENOUGH !

You know what, you are right, its just not a good business decision to work for you.

As a skilled contractor, I would charge a service call + $75 bucks an hour.
As a skilled employee you pay minimum wage and no expenses or benefits.

Why should I waste 5 hours a week travelling to work for you.

He is no longer in business.

PROVE ME WRONG !

There are no larger groups in Canada or North America than renters.
Think about that.

If that statement doesn't open your eyes....

Don't care?
Just pay the increase's & go back to sleep.
3%@3yrs=9% Do you think they will stop at 1 increase ?
This plus the annual rent guidline increase's


LANDLORDS HAVE DECIDED TO GIVE THEMSELVES A RAISE OF 10% OR MORE WITH YOUR MONEY.

Renters literally out number any other entity or group.
Do you think its time to harness that power ?
There are more renters in Canada than any other religious group, political party, union, corporation, or national entity to influence a vote.

HE WHO HOLDS THE POWER IS IN CHARGE!
THIS IS AN ELECTION YEAR TO
HARNESS THAT TENANTS POWER

I sincerely hope this does not infringe on this forums intentions or policy's.
If you find this statement offensive then you must be a landlord, mission accomplished.
If you feel it is not worth the read, does not help renters or does not help in any way.
Please report to as may people as you can before contacting the moderator for deletion.

If you truly want change than get involved, join a group, start an association, just do anything that moves forward in a positve direction for ALL TENANTS RIGHTS.

Perhaps you might even learn your rights are because people have literally died the result of which is why these laws were made to protect you from harm.

As an example: RTA, LTB, Building Code, Fire Code, AODA, Bylaws,...

The very least you can do is understand your rights to uphold the laws to make your home a better place.

First thing I would ask is for him to put the request in writing.
Management always ask you to put it in writing, so....ask for it in writing.

The only information he needs to know is first and last name for ALL the residents that actually populate the building.
For safety reasons ONLY!

An example would be a rescue list of apt's and names for people with disabilities located in the "Fire Plan Box" mounted at the front door in the event of a fire or emergency Fire Dept. need's to know who to evacuate.
People who cannot walk, breathing issues, heart issues, wheel chair, scooters or what ever their issue may be.

Simply put its common sense and for everyone's benefit to tell them you have a person living with you.
She does not need to be put on a lease nor does she need to sign anything nor do you.
More specifically she did not apply for a job.
Asking people who they are and where are they going is harassment.

The Fire Department needs to know how many people live in the building in the event something happens.

Furthermore, I hate to say it but landlords/agents can ask what ever they want.
You are not obligated to answer unless its in writing and even then it is not mandatory.

Oldest rule's in the book question everything, never sign anything, always get it in writing.
