Reports the latest rents in Toronto as:

Toronto is the second-priciest rental market in Canada according to Zumper, as tenants pay an average of $2,400 per month for a one-bedroom apartment and an average of $3,090 a month for a two-bedroom.

The data shows both apartment types in Toronto saw rent jump by more than 20 per cent since this time last year.

I don't know about your experience in the last municipal election, but in the Don Mills area one or two candidates would mention the experience in other cities... and eyes would glaze over. Zero traction. And yet the number of homeless or precariously housed and otherwise distressed people continues to rise, and council saw a need to up the number of shelter spaces (like during a cold snap) as recently as this past week! Ergo SEVERAL MONTHS after the last outing.

Former candidate Jennifer Keesmat was on the radio (https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-39-metro-morning/clip/15984299-does-toronto-need-visionary-its-next-mayor-former) the other day (CBC link) talking about her disappointment that the campaign has yet to gel, as time is kind of running out.

I think Churchill said once that while he liked the idea of democracy in general, the part where you have to deal with the stupid voters was rather a sticking point.
