Low-income renters in Canada can apply for a one-time payment of $500To qualify for the top-up benefit, renters must be at least 15 years of age and have paid rent in 2022 that was equal to at least 30 per cent of their net income in 2021; families must also have a net income of $35,000 or less, while eligible individuals are capped at a net income of $20,000 or less.
Residents of Canada in 2022 for tax purposes are eligible for the benefit.
